Douglas Murray Returns to The Free Press

~ The Free Press / Paramount Skydance

What I did: Produced and edited a social-first promotional video for The Free Press announcing Douglas Murray’s return as a contributor. The project was built for short-form distribution across social platforms, with emphasis on editorial clarity, dramatic pacing, caption readability, and brand-consistent visual tone.

Douglas Murray is a longtime writer and commentator whose work appears on The Free Press, where his author page describes him as a bestselling author and regular contributor to outlets including the New York Post and National Review.

Creative decisions:

The edit was built around snark and momentum rather than a standard announcement format. The goal was not simply to announce Douglas Murray’s return, but to make the return appeal to new viewers on socials who might not know his name.

I structured the piece around a clear escalation: opening with a strong identity frame, building through sharp cultural and political stakes, and closing with the central announcement: Douglas Murray returns to The Free Press.

Because the subject matter involved politically charged commentary, the edit required restraint. The strongest version preserved intensity without letting the piece become distracted by individual personalities or unnecessary controversy.

The final direction centered on a broader “attack on the West” framing rather than narrower partisan targets, keeping the focus on Murray, the publication, and the larger editorial theme.
