Short Film Trailers | Festival and Broadcast
Role: Trailer Editor
What I did: Edited promotional trailers for two short films — thriller and romantic comedy — targeting festival submission and broadcast contexts. Each trailer had to communicate the film's tone, world, and emotional hook in under two minutes without revealing the story.
Creative decisions: Trailer editing is compression under constraint. Every cut has to earn its place because there is no room for pacing to breathe the way a full edit can. I structured each trailer around a controlled reveal — establishing the world early, escalating tension or humor through the mid-section, and landing a final beat strong enough to create demand without resolution. Sound design drove the structure on both — the edit followed the audio architecture rather than the visual one.

What it was designed to produce: Festival submissions that communicate genre and tone immediately to programmers evaluating hundreds of entries. Trailers that work as standalone pieces rather than excerpts.
